Before you go
Your first ballet class
Is ballet beginner-friendly for adults with no dance experience?
Absolutely. Ballet classes specifically designed for adult beginners assume zero prior experience and move at a pace that lets you learn foundational technique without feeling rushed. Many adult learners are returning to dance after years away or trying it for the first time, and studios increasingly run adult-only beginner classes where everyone's in the same boat.
What should I wear to my first ballet class?
Wear comfortable, moveable clothes like a t-shirt and leggings or soft trousers. Most beginners wear ballet flats or go barefoot. Tie your hair back loosely, remove jewellery, and bring a water bottle. You don't need special gear to start—keep it simple and practical.
