§ FAQ
Common questions about pricing
How much does a dance class cost? +
A drop-in single class is typically £8–£15 in the UK, $10–$20 in the US and Canada. Most cities cluster within that range — see the city pages for live medians and the typical 25th–75th percentile band.
Why do dance class prices vary so much between cities? +
Studio rents, instructor pay, class duration and style all push the median up or down. London, New York and Los Angeles tend to sit at the top of the range; smaller cities and university towns sit at the bottom. The dataset shows medians so a single high-end studio doesn't skew the figure.
Are dance classes cheaper if I buy a term? +
Usually yes. A term package (typically 6–12 weeks) often works out 20–40% cheaper per class than drop-ins — typically £80–£150 / $100–$200 for an 8-week term. Memberships and class packs trade flexibility for further per-class savings.
Do studios offer free trial classes? +
Most private studios offer a free or discounted first class for new students — it's how they convert beginners. Booking is usually required via the studio website; see our free dance classes page for the full set of low-cost routes.
How is your price data collected? +
We extract drop-in class prices directly from publicly-listed studio timetables — no vendor uploads, no estimates. Each row is stored with a source URL and a 'last seen' timestamp; sources are re-scanned monthly. See the methodology page for the full detail.
How often is the price data updated? +
Studios are re-scraped on a rolling monthly schedule. Each summary on this site shows a 'last updated' date so you can judge freshness. If a studio's website changes layout or goes down, its row becomes stale rather than being silently replaced with guesswork.
§ DATA
HOW THIS IS COLLECTED.
Prices are extracted directly from studio websites — specifically the pages studios publish to list their weekly classes and drop-in rates. We exclude one-off workshops, private lessons, and term-length courses because those vary too much to compare.
