Directions

Before you go

Your first salsa class

Is Salsa beginner-friendly?

Absolutely. Salsa is designed to be taught to beginners—there's no expectation that you've danced before. Most adult beginner classes start with the basics, break things down into manageable steps, and move at a pace that lets everyone keep up. The hardest part is usually walking through the door; once you're in the room, you'll see others at the same stage and realise you're in exactly the right place.

Do I need a partner to learn Salsa?

For most Salsa classes, you don't need to bring a partner—instructors rotate partners or pair people up so everyone gets practice leading and following. Many beginners come alone. If you're learning with a partner at home, that's lovely, but it's not a requirement to join a class.

What should I wear to Salsa class?

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that lets you move freely—joggers, leggings, or loose trousers work well. Bring or wear dance shoes with smooth soles so you can pivot and turn smoothly. If you don't have dance shoes yet, clean trainers are fine for your first class, but switching to proper dance shoes makes a real difference once you're hooked.
